China's main bank is to issue a set of gold and silver coins to commemorate the Chinese film industry's 100th anniversary, reports Xinhuanet.

Each of the coins features a peony and cinefilm design along with the year, country and 100.

On the other side, the gold and silver coins are both embossed with '100' and 'A Century of Fine Film', but the gold one depicts a clap-stick, while the silver one shows a camera and film box.

A total of 20,000 gold coins and 60,000 silver coins have been made.

The gold coins, which are 2.3 cm in diameter, are worth 150 yuan and each contain a third of an ounce of gold.

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) will be issuing the coins as legal tender.

The bank is intending to launch a set of six gold and six silver coins in 2006 to mark the year of the dog.
