Gold-topped chocolate launchedThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Monday, 19th December 2005 (5682 views) A Swiss chocolate maker is pushing the art of luxury food to the limit by launching a gold-plated chocolate in the UK.DeLafee International's luxury nibbles are lined with 24-carat gold leaf. The chocolates will hit UK shops just before Christmas. Naturally, the golden treats will sit at the top end of the market, with a box of two chocolates costing £15. The gold leaf pattern adds a glittering finish to the luxury nibble but is thin enough to be edible. DeLafee is convinced the blend of gold and chocolate represents a match made in heaven. "When I first had the idea I just knew it would work - both substances are just so wonderfully sinful I knew they would fit together," said De Lafee's boss Sebastien Jeanneret. DeLaffe is not the only catering outfit to see a gap in the gold desert market this Christmas. A Christmas pudding topped with 22-carat gold leaf flakes can now be tracked down in Edinburgh after the Prestonfield Hotel spotted the market's potential.
