A movie star like Brad Pitt should be able to afford his latest squeeze the very best, but a recent purchase shows that he may be a little tighter than previously thought.

Pitt was reported to have bought Jolie a $48 ring in the Dominican Republic. The gold piece, set with a locally sourced blue volcanic stone, was bought two weeks ago whilst the two went on a shopping trip across the island.

The relationship now looks cemented after Pitt filed papers to become the father to Jolie's children, and that reports said that she was also carrying Pitt's child.

However, the couple have repeatedly denied that they are to marry on Valentine's Day, despite reports.

Rumours connecting Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie began after the filming of Mr and Mrs Smith, with gossip magazines claiming the two were as close off set as they were in the husband and wife spy caper.

Despite Jennifer Aniston filing for divorce from Pitt during 2005, Jolie and Pitt insisted for months that they were business friends and no closer.
