And they believe one of the best ways to your partner's heart is through the yellow metal. For desert, pastry chef Michael Laiskonis recommends that you bake a chocolate caramel cashew tart and top your creation with a smattering of gold leaf flakes. He has produced a recipe that is easy to follow detailing how the 23-carat gold flakes can be easily purchased in baking supply stores. Edible gold was a big culinary hit over Christmas. It always comes in 23-carat form and is odourless, tasteless and calorie-free. Besides tarts, the noble metal is also sprinkled in coffees, chocolates, soups, salads and even cocktails.
