GLR drilling campaign to start at Box Gold MineThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Friday, 24th February 2006 (3966 views) Canadian junior mining company GLR Resources has announced it will start a drilling campaign on several exploration targets near the Box Gold Mine in Saskatchewan. Results from the VTEM airborne and geophysical surveys carried out last year, together with previous exploration work done by GLR, were used when planning the locations of the targets. One of the priority sites will be the Crackingstone Ridge area, where drilling in the late '80s returned values of up to 2.97oz/ton Au, 0.825g/t Pt and 1.9g/t Pd in grab samples. Drilling here returned anomalous values of precious metals, and showings are thought to be remnants of previously existing deposits under the sandstones 200-300 metres from Quartzite Ridge. Bob Kasner, GLR's chief executive, said: "While the feasibility work is being developed on the Box Gold Mine, we have a number of gold and PGM targets within very close proximity to the Box that warrant exploration drilling. "We already know that the Goldfields District has a great deal of potential. A number of interesting new targets have been outlined from results of previous work and last year's VTEM airborne survey."
