Orezone announces estimate gold resourceThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Wednesday, 22nd March 2006 (6161 views) Orezone has announced an initial estimate for production at its Sega gold project in Burkina Faso, West Africa.Basing calculations on 0.5 g/t cut-off, initial findings suggest that resources could total over 4.8 million tonnes, grading at 1.99 g.t. This estimate is confined to the three main mineralisation zones only, all of which are covered by a 2.5 kilometre square area. Ron Little, president and CEO of Orezone, said: "The current resource estimate is a good start towards building sufficient resources for a heap leach operation. He added: Based on current gold prices and operating costs for the West African region, a resource of double this size at the same grade or better is likely required to make a production decision." Orezone currently has a number of gold projects in West Africa, which is proving to be one of the world's fastest growing gold producing regions. Its largest deposit is in Burkina Faso, where it is earning a 60 per cent interest based on a "bankable feasibility study".
