Gold jewellers and traders might want to update their diaries - it was announced that the next Hong Kong January International Jewellery & Watch Show will be held from January 7th to January 10th 2007.

The event will take place in the city's newest and largest exhibition centre, AsiaWorld-Expo, and is being billed as "the first global jewellery and timepiece trade show of the year 2007".

This year's inaugural event featured 219 sellers spread out over almost 400 booths and took place just in time for buyers to stock up for Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year.

World Trade Fair Limited show director BK Chow said: "Even though Hong Kong January Show 2007 is a bit earlier than [in 2006] . . . it will still be just in time to prepare for the spring selling season that's so important to Asian retail jewellers."

He added: "It also gives designers and manufacturers time to source the newest gems and materials on the market before they exhibit at Basel."
