Arpels jewellery at Geneva auction

Thursday, 13th April 2006 (4368 views)

Several pieces from Parisian jeweller Van Cleef & Arpels will be among the lots at Sotheby's "Magnificent Jewelry" auction.

And pride of place at the Geneva auction will be jewellery from the private collection of Mherulisa Arpels, whose husband Claude established Van Cleef & Arpels in North America.

The pieces include a diamond bracelet reckoned to be worth between $120,000 and $170,000, as well as a pair of invisibly-set ruby and diamond ear clips with an estimated value of $80,000 to $120,000.

Around 200 Arpels jewels will go under the hammer, with the proceeds going to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the Cancer Research Institute and an Arpels family charitable trust.

The Sotheby's Magnificent Jewelry auction takes place on Thursday, May 18th. There will be three sessions – at 2pm, 4.30pm and 7.30pm.
