Gold jewellery maker Kirtilals has released a new collection in India targeting consumers looking for something a little different.

The firm's Empress Collection has gone on sale, combining Western and Eastern styles in what is being hailed as a unique approach.

Head of marketing V. Balaji told Indian website News Today: "Empress Collections are specifically designed by combining European standards of excellence with Eastern craftsmanship, to suit the desires of socially upward women of fashion and style."

The firm is aiming to capture the imagination of modern Indians, capitalising on the growing number of social starlets looking for the latest jewellery trends.

Prices will vary between Rs 20,000 and Rs 4 lakh, with the tailor-made pieces being sold across the country.

Mr Balaji said Delhi, Coimbatore, Chandigarh and Ludhiana would all be locations in which the lines were on sale.
