Mining corporation Niblack Mining has announced the results of its 2006 drilling programme at its eponymously-named gold, copper and zinc mine in south-eastern Alaska.

The site is a former hub of seismic activity and has proven itself an area with high potential for the production of several different minerals.

The latest set of assay results from Niblack's mining operations in Alaska showed gold mineralisation up to 16.3 grams per tonne and high grades of silver, up to 151 grams per tonne.

Findings also gave an indication of 1.07 per cent copper and 16.26 per cent zinc over a length of 8.29 metres, which gives Niblack plenty of future options for exploration and excavation across the site.

The company plans to target additional exploration drilling at near-surface gold deposits to ascertain the true potential of short-term mining prospects in the region.
