Thursday, 21st September 2006 (5765 views) The Thracian gold treasures uncovered in the Bulgarian town of Varna last month will be moved to be put on display in the national capital Sofia later this week.An exhibition at the National Museum of History will be open from September 24th to October 8th and will feature nine of the valuable pieces that were unearthed and have since been attracting record numbers of visitors to the small seaside town. Following this display, the items will be moved to the Jacquemart Andre Museum in Paris from October 10th before moving on to a gallery in Switzerland and a further display in Japan. The exhibition in Sofia coincides with the European Heritage Days in the Bulgarian capital, which have been organised by the Council of Europe and the European Commission. The Thracian collection was originally discovered last month during a spontaneous dig which sparked local furore and international interest. Among the items recovered during the excavation was the now world-famous Sinemorets treasure.
