Monday, 23rd October 2006 (3209 views) The memoirs of an English couple who emigrated to Canada in order to focus on making their fortune from gold could make its readers shareholders in a gold mine.Dorian and Bridget Amos emigrated in 1998 to an area near Dawson City, Yukon, and their second book, The Good Life Gets Better, details their life in the Canadian wilderness. The couple own the rights to ten claims in the region and those who purchase the book gain access to membership into the Yukon gold mining company where they can profit from any gold discoveries at the mine. Dan Hiscocks, managing director of Eye Books publishers, stated: "It is incredibly rare for the rights of mines such as these, which have been proved to contain gold, to fall free. Dorian's discovery was an amazing stroke of luck." An application form for membership to the gold mining club comes with purchase of the book and according to Mr Hiscocks, the claim that readers will be entitled to is at Bonanza Creek, where traditional panning will initially take place. Following a gold discovery in Klondike, Yukon territory in 1896, a gold rush began around the Klondike river at the end of the 19th century.
