Leyshon Resources has announced that it has discovered additional gold during a drill programme at its Zheng Guang property located in Heilongjiang, north-east China.

One kilometre north of the main ore zone, some near surface gold intersections were found at a depth of six metres below the surface.

The new resource was found to yield 3.64 ounces of gold per tonne and the company said that the mineralization at the site was similar to that found at the main ore zone and the resource may stretch further along the strike.

Managing director at Leyshon Resources Paul Atherley remarked: "Zheng Guang North is the first of a number of highly prospective geochemical targets we are testing within the project area which we believe have the potential to significantly increase the near surface economic resources."

Completion of drilling work has been set for the end of October 2006 and Leyshon Resources states that it is "rapidly advancing" towards production status, adding that the Zheng Guang gold project is aiming to become the first sino-foreign mine in Heilongjiang.
