Wednesday, 22nd November 2006 (2991 views) Canada-based mining company Etruscan Resources has declared that the drilling results it received from its Diba property in Mali have shown a "significant" discovery of gold. The exploration work at the property has discovered an "exceptionally" high grade of gold mineralisation, the highlight of which was a grade of 900.5 grams found during a programme that included 11 diamond drill holes along with 25 reverse circulation holes. Other key discoveries at the property were 49.5, 33.4, 27.9 and 17.5 grams per tonne all found over a core width of one metre. Don Burton, chief operating officer and exploration vice president at Etruscan Resources, stated: "There remains no doubt that Diba represents an important gold discovery in Mali West. "We are just getting our first glimpse at the southern-most end and we will continue with diligent, systematic drilling over the coming months." Etruscan Resources has been taking part in exploration work for both gold and diamonds in Africa for 12 years and the miner wishes to reach gold production of 140,000 ounces per year by 2008.
