Monday, 27th November 2006 (1994 views) Mining company Golden China has been recognised for its moves to ensure environmentally-friendly development at its gold mine in Shandong Province.Canadian-based Golden China and partner Michelago were named as the first recipients of the Mining Environmental Protection Award made at the China Mining 2006 event. The two companies have introduced a number of innovative schemes and initiatives in order to help ensure ongoing sustainable development and reduce any potential negative impact on the local environment at their Shandong BioGold plant. "I am thrilled to accept this honour on behalf of everyone who helped make the BioGold facility what it is today," said Peter Secker, director and founder of Michelago. He added: "Needless to say, environmental sustainability is a key world issue and we are very proud of our efforts to this end as responsible corporate citizens." The BioGold plant currently produces around 120,000 ounces of 99.99 per cent gold bullion each year and is capable of processing highly refractory arsenic gold ores.
