Monosse drilling begins, says StrataGoldThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Thursday, 30th November 2006 (3337 views) StrataGold has announced that its diamond drilling programme - a joint venture with Newmont Overseas Exploration - at the Monosse property in Guyana has got underway. The drilling work will focus on an area of 2,000 metres after StrataGold received a Barama Reconnaissance Permit (BRP) to undertake the programme, back in July 2005. Exploration will take place within the BRP properties, excluding both the Tassawini and Anaturi properties, across an area in excess of 4,500 square metres. In preparation for the drilling programme at the Monosse site, StrataGold erected a camp suitable for 40 people as well as a detailed grid between July and November of this year. An estimated total of $1.5 million (£767,000) has been spent on the property between 1994 and 1999, with drilling, trenching and soil geochemistry surveys conducted by Toscana Resources and surveys completed by BHP World Discovery Group. The acquisition of the property took place in 2005 and gold mineralisation is held in quartz vein stockworks at Monosse.
