Production has got back on track at IAMGold's Rosebel gold mine in Suriname following a near month-long strike at the property.

Spokesman Roy van Aerde said that employees at the mine had gone back to their posts on Monday once an agreement with management had been struck. Specific details of the deal have not been released by IAMGold.

A walk out was staged on January 25th from the Rosebel property and at that time the doors to the mine were welded shut by workers. The welding was not down to workers said a union representing them.

However, Mr Aerde said on February 20th that "everything has been cleaned up or restored and all units are operational."

IAMGold is presently the tenth largest gold company in the world and describes itself as the "top mid tier gold producer with production over one million".

The mine at Rosebel is the most important asset that IAMGold operates, according to the mining company and was acquired in November last year.
