Canadian gold mining company Rochester Resources has announced ht commencement of shipping gold from its Mina Real Mine in Mexico.

The company explained that three shipments of gold and silver ore were shipped out of the site in early February, while work at the mine continues to help fine tune the process during the project's continuing start-up phase.

"This represents a major milestone in Rochester's 12-month evolution from a junior exploration company to a revenue producing mining and milling operation," commented Douglas Good, the company's chairman.

He added: "It was impressive to watch the construction of the mill and related infrastructure develop to such a high standard of quality during the ensuing seven month construction period."

After matching the aim of producing 200 tonnes per day in 2007, the company has now set its sights higher and is hoping to increase this to 300 tonnes per day.

Dr Alfredo Parra, the company's president, also moved to praise the "historical" state of Nayarit in Mexico and its authorities, for helping to produce the mine.
