Sierra Gold Corporation has received the results of its bulk-sampling programme which took place in December 2006 at its Pampana North property.

The presence of rare earth metals within the property's grounds has been confirmed with assay results indicating levels of zirconium and neodymium in two separate pits at the project.

Both metals showed grades of over ten grams per tonne with more analysis planned in order to say specifically how much of each metal is contained in the grounds.

Sierra Gold is also planning a drilling programme to look for precious metals like gold as well as diamonds in its other properties in west Africa.

Neodymium is very rare and is used for colouring glass, in strong magnets and in enamels. Zirconium is used mainly to reach global energy demands with 90 per cent of stocks of the earth metal consumed by nuclear power generation or in low cost diamond substitutes.

Sierra Gold is based in Nevada and it owns the mining rights of Northern Star Resources which is a Sierra Leone incorporated gold and diamond mining company.
