Thursday, 1st March 2007 (4018 views) Firestone, a US-based gold exploration company, has announced additional claims at its Sonora project in Yukon, Canada. The company has made a total of 123 claims which are added to its portfolio for the project, with the Chopin property, located some 20kms south of the Sonora claim, also added. And Firestone has also announced a high-grade gold intercept from its Amadeus Zone, which holds a sub-interval of 12.19 gold across five metres. "The high-grade gold intercept at the Amadeus Zone is over two kilometres from previously known high-grade gold mineralisation and placer gold workings containing angular gold and gold-bismuth-tellurium minerals," explained Lori Walton, president of the company. She added: "We are very excited about the size potential of the mineralising system at Sonora." The gold mineralisations are part of the Dawson Range district, which are supporting several gold exploration companies, and the recent expansion of the local power grid is allowing much more work to be conducted, according to the firm.
