Open-pit mining work has recommenced at the Coyote gold project, located in western Australia, Tanami Gold has announced.

The Australian mining company had put a halt to its mining operations at the property last October due to delays resulting from both the commissioning and construction of a treatment plant.

High recoveries have since been received by Tanami Gold following a rethink of how it operates its treatment plant, which has led to the firm deciding to begin open-pit mining once more.

In a press release, Tanami's executive chairman Denis Waddell, said: "With the recommencement of mining, the treatment plant performing well and the diamond drill program underway, development of the Coyote gold project is now progressing well."

A review of the Coyote site has determined that the company will focus its attentions on shallower open pits during the first stage of exploration.

Meanwhile, visible gold has now been announced at the Muttley lode following the initial infill diamond hole at the Coyote gold project. This occurred in several veins.
