Bid for some golden music memorabilia

Friday, 18th May 2007 (3341 views)

Gold is a precious metal used for all sorts of special purposes throughout the world and one of the most famed is the golden plaques which honour musical artists who have made many sales.

Rock band Evanescence is one such band who achieved acclaimed success and was rewarded with many gold plaques. But now, just two weeks after leaving the band in acrimonious circumstances, drummer Rocky Gray is selling his gold plaques to much aplomb.

For $500 (£250) a plaque, true fans can get a real taste of how it feels to own a beloved piece of music memorabilia.

"Just kinda cleanin' house a little bit," said Rocky on popular online auction site eBay.

"Evanescence is something I have loved and nurtured since I was 14 and I will continue to protect and fight for it as I always have."

One such award is in acknowledgment of platinum sales of the band's Open Door album and was given by record company Sony BMG.
