An interpretation of a database that was purchased from the government of Quebec has been completed by Diagnos, accounting for some 20,000 kilometres worth of land.

The database relates to a plot of land situated in the Gaspesie region of the country and Diagnos managed to interpret it by utilising Computer Aided Resource Detection Software (Cards).

Diagnos' overriding objective is now to ensure that it can identify targets for exploration work in this region and due to the information gained from the interpretation of the Quebec government's database, acquisitions of land have been made as a result in areas where there could be gold mineralisation.

According to the firm, Diagnos were able to amalgamate knowledge of information technology with that of geology and geophysics in order to successfully create an interpretation that used millions of data points.

Commenting, the firm said: "This first acquired property is located in the south-western part of the Gaspesie region close to St-Andre-de-Restigouche. The sector presents anomalies and showings in copper and gold that are of interest for exploration."
