Gold retailer donates to charity

Well-known gold jewellery retailer Tiffany has donated significant funds to environmental projects in Manhattan through its grant-making body.

The Tiffany and Co Foundation granted $1 million (£500,000) each to three projects in lower Manhattan Friends of the High Line, The Battery Conservancy and the New York Harbor Conservancy.

Tiffany designs jewellery for men and women in a variety of styles and its collections include an 18-carat gold heart bracelet and Frank Gehry's 18-carat gold Torque bracelet which is 8.5 inches long and costs £2,475.

"We look forward to seeing your hard work coming to life and your vision in making New York City a greater place for all of us," Fernanda M Kellogg, Tiffany and Co Foundation president said, JCK Online reports.

The Battery Conservancy intends to use the grant to create the Tiffany Woodland Garden, New York Harbor Conservancy's grant will fund the campaign for New York Harbor, while the grant for Friends of the High Line (an elevated railway along the west side of Manhattan) will support the construction of planting feature the Chelsea Grasslands.
