Tuesday, 26th June 2007 (4396 views) Royal Canadian Mint is to display a 100 kilogramme 99.9 per cent pure gold bullion coin at its Sussex Drive facility, it has been announced.The gold coin, which according to Royal Canadian Mint is the largest in the world, has a face value of $1 million (£50,000). Currently, the Ottawa-based Royal Canadian Mint facility produces hand-crafted collector and commemorative coins, gold bullion coins, gold medals and medallions. "It is here that all the master tooling is done to create the dies that strike coin designs for both circulation and commemorative issues. The Mint's gold refining and advanced engineering operations are also located in Ottawa," the company said in a press release. For a limited period, visitors taking a guided tour of the Royal Canadian Mint will be able to view the coin. In other Royal Canadian Mint news, in recognition of Canada Day, which takes place on July 1st, the Mint will be giving free tours to visitors. Also, family activities such as face painting will be on offer with other entertainment provided by clowns and refreshments available in the shape of a barbeque.
