Monday, 23rd July 2007 (1789 views) An exhibition dating back to the seventh century BC features gold artefacts from the Greek and Scythian is showing in the Getty Villa, Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Times reports.The 190 objects from ancient tombs include gold jewellery and will remain on show until September. In addition to gold jewellery the exhibition contains stone and bronze statuary, silver, glass and ceramics. "I always wonder what their studios were like or, in this case, their workshops. Did they work under daylight or oil lamps? Could they work at night? Did they do preliminary drawings? If so, what did they write on?" Morphesis, a Philadelphia-born, CalArts-trained painter, told the newspaper. Among the treasures is an gold necklace comprised of 100 tiny filigree rosettes with beechnut-like pendants attached to a band of delicate chain, a pair of gold ear pendants decorated with lions' heads, a gold drinking horn and a necklace with garnet clasps.
