Royal Selangor - the company behind the Lord of the Rings collectable items - is offering exclusive gold coins to commemorate Malaysia's 50th independence anniversary it has been revealed.

According to the Star, Royal Selangor's 917-fine gold coin, pays tribute to the 13-year tenure of Malaysia's first prime minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al Haj.

The gold coins - which come in a specially designed box - feature the portrait of the former Malaysian premier along with an inscription which, in English, reads Father of Malaysia.

"Released from a private collection ... only a limited number of 395 coins are available for sale at Royal Selangor," the Star reports a Royal Selangor statement as saying.

The reverse side of the gold coin features the parliament house, a crescent moon, 14-pointed star and the inscription of the denomination.

Among the gold items stocked by Royal Selangor is a high-polish tray featuring a broad band of a woodcarving motif in 24-carat gold.
