Hearing aids are the latest accessory to get "blinged" as evidenced by the latest offering from Widex - a hearing aid coated in 24-carat gold.

Widex's cutting-edge behind-the-ear M model has been doused in gold and sprinkled with no less than 220 diamonds.

It comes with an accompanying remote that allows the user to adjust settings and costs a mere £25,000.

Lawrence Werth, the Widex representative in the UK, said: "As digital hearing aid technology has advanced wearers have become increasingly proud of the devices and the effects they have on their lives.

"Combine this with an ever younger age profile for hearing aid wearers and more and more clients advertise the fact they use an aid."

Utilizing a hearing aid as a piece of jewellery is becoming more common, added Mr Werth.

Meanwhile, GN has recently unveiled its 24-carat Jabra JX10 Cara Bluetooth headset, reports Wireless Design and Development Asia.
