Gold recovery at Gold Hawk Resources's Biox circuit has matched designed plant performance, the company has announced.

Preliminary results from the circuit - revealed as part of three and six-month financial results to June 30th 2007 - reflect the performance of the Coricancha Mine in Peru, from which the first full gold pour was made in June.

Gold Hawk also announced that assay samples conducted by ALS Chemex Laboratory from the Constancia vein in Lima at the 3140 level revealed 4.85 grams per tonne of gold in the 1.26-metre vein.

According to the company, the average grades discovered in the vein at the 3140 level are "significantly higher than those encountered in the upper working levels of this vein".

Overall, a net loss of approximately $4.8 million (£2.4 million) was felt during the second quarter of the year, an improvement on the same period in 2006 when losses of approximately $5.6 million (£2.8 million) were recorded.

Gold Hawk has mining properties in Quebec, Canada as well as sites in Peru.
