Mineral explorer IGC Resources has announced that drilling work has begun at the firm's Blackburn gold project in Western Australia.

The 4,000-metre reverse circulation drilling programme has been introduced to test targets identified through the recent VTEM helicopter survey, according to the company.

Geophysical data obtained through the survey revealed a mineralised shoot at nearby Jinka's pit, with the drilling also being used to explore depth extensions near to the existing site.

The electromagnetic (EM) survey undertaken at the Blackburn location has identified 22 different targets for IGC, with four deemed "drill-ready", according to the company.

Gold resources of more than 212,000 ounces are inferred at the Blackburn gold project, IGC claims, at 1.06 grams per tonne.

The Blackburn gold project is one of four projects under the remit of IGC Resources, with Fraser Range and the Uaroo project also in Australia.

IGC Resources was incorporated in September 1992 and has been known as IGC Resources since 1999, according to the firm's website.
