Gold producer Banro is proving up four potential mines at major gold targets on the Twangiza-Namoya gold belt in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a new report claims.

According to Mineweb, the company has achieved some very positive results recently that bode well for the development of four key targets in this area.

Chief executive officer of Banro Mike Prinsloo told the news provider that he is confident about the prospects of projects at Twangiza, Namoya, Lugushwa and Kamituga.

While the Twangiza and Namoya targets are at the pre-feasibility study stage and the Lugushwa and Kamituga projects are at scooping study stage, Mr Prinsloo said that each has great potential.

Twangiza - described in the report as the most advanced of the four – was the subject of "encouraging" drill results published this week, confirming further tonnages and grades at the Twangiza North section.

Banro states that it is committed to creating jobs and economic opportunities for local inhabitants of the DRC.
