The project, one of two concessions obtained by Newmont through its acquisition of Normandy Mining in 2002, is reportedly to pour its first gold in less than three years. Mr Anderson was said to have made his comments at the national mining forum Sustainable Development, organised by the Ghana Chamber of Mines and Newmont Gold Ghana. Esther Obeng Dapaah, the country's minister of land, forestry and mines, affirmed that the development of Ghana's mineral resources would be managed in a way sensitive to social and environmental sustainability, according to the news provider. In related news, it was announced this week that Newmont is to develop Columbus Gold's Scraper Springs property in Nevada.
