Yankee Hat Minerals has announced its plans for rapid expansion by exploring the acquisition of gold prospects in both North and South America.

The Canada-based gold exploration company said that recent changes to its management structure, as well as a strong asset foundation put in place by its Fran Project in northern British Columbia, will enable it to fund its proposed expansion.

Brad Kitchen, president of Yankee Hat, said: "Current market conditions have created an opportunity to acquire undervalued gold projects and Yankee Hat is positioning itself to exploit these opportunities."

The company said that the new changes will allow it to pursue "world class" development and exploration opportunities and will improve its access to capital markets to provide additional funding.

Mr Kitchen added that a new partnership with Toronto-based communications company Bay Street Connect, which deals primarily with the mining sector, will allow Yankee Hat new access to brokerage and retail connections in Canada's financial centre.

In addition to the Fran Project, the company is currently exploring a second gold project at the Union Mine, located north of Grand Forks, British Columbia.
