Tuesday, 25th September 2007 (1790 views) A new workshop organised by the Ontario Mining Association (OMA) is set to discuss how the industry can conserve energy.To be held at the Shania Twain Centre on October 3rd and 4th, the event is to include a presentation by Ivor da Cunha, president of LeapFrog Energy Technology. Mr da Cunha is to present the results of the study Implementing a Sustainable Compressed Air Leak Programme, while mine representatives who participated in the investigation will also be present to share their insights. Among the other speakers at the event are Richard Coxford of Natural Resources Canada who is timetabled to discuss the energy management initiatives of the federal government, as well as the Ontario Power Authority's Cliff Poyton. According to the OMA, the mining industry in the region spends more than $500 million (£248 million) on energy every year. In related news, Annual Mines Ministers' Conference recently took place in Canada's Whistler.
