Assay results from three reverse-circulation drill holes from the Esaase gold deposit in Ghana is part of a gold-bearing structure measuring 1.6 kilometres in length, according to Midlands Minerals.

The gold deposit is located on the Sian property in the country's Ashanti Goldbelt and drilling results indicate that it has similar geological characteristics to samples from the Esaase Mine, which has an indicated gold resource of 1.3 million tonnes.

Drilling operations on the Sian property are still in progress to both increase the resource estimate on the site and to confirm the continuity of gold grades and widths in known gold deposits.

Kim Harris, president and chief executive of Midlands Minerals, said that the company's current aim is to increase the tonnage of gold resources on the property, adding that it hopes to bring the property to production by 2010.

Midlands Minerals currently has operations underway at the Sian, Kwahu and Kaniago gold properties in Ghana, as well as the Itilima mining property in Tanzania.
