Gold resource estimate increases by 77%Tuesday, 20th November 2007 (1921 views) A new resource estimate at the Tajikistan-based Pakrut gold project has increased by around 77 per cent since an initial statement was released in March, according to Thomson Financial. The current resource estimate for the 6,300-hectare site is 1.06 million ounces, with a 0.5 gram per tonne cutoff grade. Earlier this year, mining and firm Kryso Resources estimated gold resources on the site to be 596,500 ounces. However, additional exploration and diamond drilling on the site have increased resources significantly since the spring. A geotechnical drilling operation is currently underway at the site to further explore the potential of extensions on the project's main Pakrut deposit. Based in London, England, Kryso Resources is currently focusing on gold exploration in central Asia based on discoveries made during the Soviet Union era. The company has reported that it believes itself to be the first foreign company to have whole interest in an exploration and mining project in Tajikistan.
