Friday, 25th January 2008 (1722 views) A town in Arizona is readying itself for a festival commemorating the gold rush.Between February 7th and February 10th, the 60th Gold Rush festival in the town of Wickenberg incorporates a number of gold themed activities. Sponsored by the Wickenberg Chamber of Commerce and Pard'ners, the event invites attendees to pan for gold, engage in old-west style gun fights and enjoy a classic car show. A highlight looks set to be Saturday's Gold Rush Parade, which commences at 10:00 local time and is themed Ranchers, Miners, Railroads and Gold! Described by the publication as the fourth largest parade in Arizona, the procession involves some 1,000 horses. On Saturday night, a Gold Rush Rodeo Dance is held at the town community centre, accompanied by a set by the "nationally-known Arizona band Mogollon". Gold fans in Arizona can attend the Arizona Association of Gold Prospectors' monthly meetings and mining events.
