Friday, 22nd February 2008 (2537 views) Opawica Explorations has unveiled the results from the first eight holes of its 15-hole minimum drilling programme at the Atikwa Lake property in Ontario, Canada. The company said drilling intersected a gold and copper zone with an overall core length of 178 metres. The true width, length and depth of this zone will be defined by further drilling. Results include a nine-metre interval of gold grading at 10.24 g/t and a 27-metre wide interval of 6.43 g/t gold. Additional results included 4.71 g/t gold over 13.6 metres, 4.02 g/t gold over 46.75 metres and 2.4 g/t gold over 115.75 metres. Opawica said that the drilling had extended the strike length of the Maybrun copper-gold zone to 500 metres from its historically reported length of 200 metres. It has also expanded the depth of the zone to at least 100 metres from a previously-reported depth of 30 metres at the Maybrun open pit zone and 84 metres from underground works. Opawica has so far completed 36 diamond drill holes to a total depth of 4,800 metres at Atikwa Lake, which is located approximately 120 kilometres south-east of Kenora, Ontario.
