Brides-to-be 'favouring gold rings again'The news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 26th February 2008 (1763 views) Couples planning their weddings are increasingly considering using gold rings, according to experts.Theresa DiMasi, editor-in-chief of Brides.com, said that while platinum has been the favourite metal for those picking out an engagement or wedding ring, soaring prices mean that couples are looking at gold again, the Associated Press reports. However, this newfound interest in gold rings is not confined to just the traditional yellow kind, Millie Martini Bratten of Brides magazine explained, stating that white and even rose gold is becoming more popular. "Rose gold is pretty, new and trendy. It looks good on many skin tones," Ms Bratten commented. The most common type of wedding ring is a plain gold band. However, some cultures use more ornate rings, such as puzzle rings, which are thought to have first been made in Asia some 2,000 years ago and are sold in pairs that can be arranged to form a single ring.
