Representatives from all the major political parties were present and heard Jeremy Wyeth, chair and executive vice-president for De Beers Canada highlight the key role the industry around extracting gold and other valuable commodities has played in Canada's development. In particular, mining for gold and other precious metals has been crucial to First Nation communities, providing educational and entrepreneurial opportunities for citizens, he said. The goal of the yearly event is to provide senior mining industry representatives with the chance to communicate with political figures and to promote two-way collaboration between the sectors.
