Friday, 28th March 2008 (1407 views) A gold watch and other memorabilia has been discovered that depicts the tragic story of the last Titanic survivor, Lillian Asplund.Following the death of Ms Asplund, aged 99, many historically important documents and artefacts have been uncovered relating to the tragic voyage and her family that were all sadly lost on that fateful night in 1912, according to the Daily Mail. Among the objects recovered, was a gold watch belonging to her father that stopped at the exact minute the Titanic sank, 19 minutes past two. The collection will now go to auction and is expected to fetch as much as £150,000. Andrew Aldridge, auctioneer at Henry Aldridge and Sons of Devizes, said: "The importance of this archive for any Titanic collector cannot be underestimated." The story of the Titanic was made into a Hollywood blockbuster in 1997 by Stephen Spielberg. It depicted a fictional love story that took place aboard the ill-fated maiden journey of the world's first 'unsinkable' ship.
