Gold retailers are anticipating the commencement of the Asian wedding season next month, a new report notes.

According to the Mail on Sunday, the five-month period is traditionally associated with a spike in the yellow metal's popularity and prospective brides and grooms look for rings and other jewellery to commemorate their special day.

Rishi Babber, manager of independent west London jeweller Ram Parkash Sunderdass & Sons, told the publication that 7,000 Asian families visited his establishment last year to purchase gold accessories for weddings.

Demand for the metal is likely to continue to rise, analysts reportedly predict.

Asian brides are traditionally given gold as a portion of their dowry, as well as decorating themselves with the precious metal for the day's festivities.

In related news, Akshaya Tritiya, India's biggest gold buying festival that associates the purchase of the commodity with prosperity, falls on May 7th and is eagerly anticipated by jewellers, observes Reuters.
