Speculation about a rumoured engagement between actors Adrien Brody and Elsa Pataky has grown after the Spanish star was spotted wearing a gold band on her wedding finger.

According to Ireland Online, photographers snapped Pataky wearing a ring made of the yellow metal on the third finger of her left hand - traditionally associated with engagement.

The publication asserted that the couple, who have been together for two years and share a New York abode, are to marry in Pataky's home country next year.

Brody came to prominence in the 2002 Roman Polanski film The Pianist, for which he won the Academy Award for best actor.

His rumoured bride-to-be has starred in a number of blockbusters in Spain and France and recently shared the screen with Samuel L Jackson in Snakes On A Plane.

Of the ring, a friend reportedly told Star magazine: "Elsa said it was a promise ring from Adrien and that they were going to get married next year in Spain."
