Wednesday, 30th April 2008 (3663 views) Gold embroidery techniques are set to be showcased as part of a Festival of Traditional Culture in Uzbekistan, it has been announced.In a statement from the country's embassy in Berlin, it was confirmed that the festival - which has been organised by the Fund Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan - will take place on May 3rd and 4th. In addition to the traditional gold embroidery, there will also be concerts, contests and performance celebrating all aspects of Uzbek society. Events include an art exhibition, a festival of national costumes, cookery presentations, time-honoured sports such as horse racing and wrestling, plus competitions for traditional bakhshi folk singers and groups. In addition, there will be shows and exhibitions celebrating the contribution of young people to Uzbek culture. Around 5,000 people are expected to participate in the festival, including musicians, performers, dancers, designers and chefs. Uzbekistan is a former Soviet republic located in central Asia It shares it borders with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Krygyztan and Afghanistan.
