Wednesday, 28th May 2008 (3382 views) Details of rare gold coins and notes to be auctioned by Bowers and Merena (B&M) have been published.The haul includes a 1920-S $20 coin that has been graded MS-63 by Numismatic Guarant and is possibly one of only about 75 left in circulation. More than 2,500 coin lots, including gold coins, will be up for auction at the Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention, plus more than 500 paper money lots. Another coin of interest is an 1801 Capped Bust $10 gold piece graded MS-64 by Professional Coin Grading Service, which comes from the Raleigh-Durham collection. In addition, the lots include an 1876-CC gold $5 in NHC MS-61, which cataloguers believe is one of only about 90 remaining "all levels of preservation". The B&M auction will take place at the Baltimore Convention Centre's Charles Street VIP Suite starting at 18:00 local time on June 5th, 12:00 local time on June 6th and 18:00 local time again on June 6th. Meanwhile, visitors to the Whitman Baltimore Coins and Currency convention can get hands-on experience of engraving in an hour-long paper money workshop taking place on June 6th, Numis Master reports.
