Thursday, 29th May 2008 (2799 views) Canada-based exploration firm Benton Resources has reported a "significant" new gold discovery at its Armit Lake property in Ontario. The company said the zone was intersected during a 13-hole diamond drilling campaign at its wholly-owned property. High-grade mineralisation was encountered in hole seven, returning gold values of 23.03 g/t gold over 1.5 metres. The intersection was made 100 metres below the surface. Another gold intercept was recorded in hole 12 around 1,400 metres south-east of hole seven, returning a grade of 10.58 g/t gold over 0.8 metres, the company confirmed. Benton said it "remains excited" about the potential for further exploration at Armit Lake and it is currently planning new grid work, geophysics research, prospecting and mapping at the site. Armit Lake is located in the north-west of the province of Ontario, near other Benton Resources projects at Flying Loon, Rex Lake and Saganaga. In addition to its properties in Ontario, Benton also has operations in Labrador and Newfoundland.
