Next month is to see a number of gold items go on auction in Philadelphia, it has been revealed.

A 26-carat gold trophy will be one of many pieces going under the hammer at the Freemans auction house at the event, which takes place on Friday August 8th.

Based on 1808 Chestnut Street in the east coast-located American city, the cup weighs 14 carats with the base of the trophy weighing 12 carats.

The item is expected to be sold for somewhere in the region of $15,000 to $20,000 (£7,530 to £10,040).

However, the trophy is not the only gold object to be displayed at the Philadelphia auction, with a 14-carat yellow-gold bracelet estimated to sell for up to $3,200.

A gold pocketwatch and yellow-gold ring are also among the items to go under hammer.

Claiming to be the oldest auction house in the US, Freemans celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2005.
