A gold trophy will be the number one item in a Freeman's auction to be held next month in the Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The newspaper claims the cup is 14-karat and the base is 12-karat and it is expected to sell for between $15,000 (£7,542) and $20,000.

Kate Waterhouse, Freeman's jewellery specialist told the Inquirer in some ways the estimate was disappointing as it represented the trophy's scrap value.

Another item going under the hammer is a yellow-gold pocket watch with a Roman numeral dial and a gold-fill face depicting a former mayor.

The watch's pre-sale estimate stands at $300 to $500.

A diamond and 14-karat yellow-gold S-curve bracelet is also up for grabs and auctioneers are expecting it to fetch between $2,200 and $3,200

At the beginning of the week, it was revealed Selfridges department store is to stock a teddy bear worth £43,000 with a 24-carat gold nose.
