Damien Hirst's golden calf is set to shock audiences in India, reported the country's Economic Times.

The exhibition from the British artist opened in Delhi on August 27th and was brought to the country by Sotheby's.

It will feature 20 different pieces of work from Hirst's Beautiful Inside My Head Forever collection, including the golden calf installation.

For the piece, Hirst preserved the calf in formaldehyde and then added an 18-karat golden horn, hooves and a golden disc.

With a price tag of £12 million, the calf will be the most expensive item on display.

In an unusual move for the artist, each of the 223 items that make up the collection will first be exhibited and then auctioned off directly through Sotheby's once the display has opened in London next month.

Usually Hirst sells a new body of work through the galleries which present it.

The auction at Sotheby's will take place between September 15th and 16th and is expected to raise over £65 million, according to Bloomberg.
