Jennifer Aniston has raised queries over her freshly-acquired single status after being photographed wearing a gold ring on her left wedding ring finger.

A recent article in OK! magazine suggested that the actress has being having a lot of fun celebrating the recent break-up of her four-month relationship with singer John Mayer.

The former Friends actress was caught out and about in New York shopping, having dinner with friends and taking in the culture at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, according to the magazine.

However, on the celebitchy website, Aniston's decision to wear a gold ring on her wedding finger may be a way to catch the attention of the paparazzi.

MTV UK also commented on the choice of finger, suggesting the ring has set off rumours that she had gotten engaged.

She was photographed wearing the ring while on her way to meet Woody Allen, the music station stated.
